The concert also featured a few young singers Himaja Movva, Nithya Kasturi, and a 6 yr okd child prodigy Amritha Turlapati. The male singers were Narayanan Raju, Subrahmanaym Darbha, Murali Sambara, Prasad Durvasula, Krishna Rayasam, Murthy Ganti, Srinivas Tagirasa, Ramakrishna Vengalasetty, and BATA’s very own Prasad Mangina. The list of female singers included Sarada Akunuri from Houston as noted earlier, Sudha Sastry, Pratyusha Gubbala, and Sirisha Palla. Even though the tracks were all Karaoke, Srini noted, finding many of them, was next to impossible and many times he had to work with a company in India to produce these tracks themselves for the first time with a very good quality (on par with the original songs). The concert themed "Kalakaalam Ade Paadanee!" (an old melody from movie, Captain Krishna) consisted of 30+ melodious songs written by Sri Veturi over his film career ranging from 1970s to 2000s. She noted that Veturi needed no introduction to anyone and that she would not delay the concert talking about him. Starting the event, Vijaya gaaru requested the audience to observe a minute of silence in the memory of legendary singer, Sri Ghantasala who died this very day in 1974, and a veteran music director, Sri Susarla Dakshina Murthy who died just a week before the concert. Vijaya Aasuri of BATA and Srinivas Chimata of anchored the event. Bulusu Narayana, Dr.Perayya Sudanagunta (both are eminent and long-settled doctors in the Bay Area), and Mr.Jayaram Komati (ex-President of TANA). The program started with lamp lighting ("jyothi prajwalanam") by Dr. Ramana Juvvadi, who is very well known among the Telugu community in Dallas and who also co-hosted the first ChimataMusic concert outside the Bay Area last year, also traveled all the way from Texas just to attend this event as a token of encouragement. Sarada Akunuri, the president of Houston Telugu Cultural Assoication, traveled all the way from Texas to participate in the event as a singer. is planning to double the number to 66 songs in an exciting upcoming concert in an honor of SP Balu's 66th birthday on June 2nd! ).
A total of 33 songs from some of his best and popular songs were picked a very difficult task given that there are hundreds of top notch songs to choose from (there is a reason as to why only 33 songs were chosen. This is perhaps the first concert of its kind in USA honoring the legendary lyricist who left this world in 2010 while still at his peak.
The concert was held in the Dinner and Entertainment format with an estimated audience of over 400, completely filling the Hall to the brim. The stage was set on the evening of Saturday, Februin the grand Banquet Hall of Sneha Restaurant in Sunnyvale, California. Also, this concert was conducted using the "quality" Karaoke tracks rather the Live Orchestra (a team of 10 accomplished musicians) as was the case with all ChimataMusic concerts. Unlike the previous concerts of which were held to honor the legendary music directors of yesteryears, this concert was held in the memory of the legendary lyricist Sri Veturi Sundararama Murthy on behalf of his birthday (Jan 29th). , the brand and an icon for melodious film songs and the Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA), long known for its promotion of Telugu arts and culture, have come together again to recreate the magic as they did multiple times in the past. the same magic that has been mesmerizing the music lovers of old Telugu film songs in the San Franscisco Bay Area has happened again.
